Yupparaj Wittayalai School was the first government school in
Chiang Mai. The land for the school was donated by Her Royal Highness Princess
Jao Dararasamee and Prince Intarawarorot Suriyawong, former rules of Chiang
Mai.
King Rama the Fifth founded the school in 1899, naming it
Demonstration School of the Payap Region. On December 24, 1905 The Prince
regent visited the school and changed the name to “Yupparaj Wittayalai”. This
date is now celebrated as the beginner of the school.
The school was placed under the royal patronage of Her Royal
Highness Princess Petcharat Rajsuda Sirisopa Pannawadee, King Rama the sixth’s
daughter on January the first 1929.
Yupparaj English Program was introduced in 2002, follows and
promotes English talented students who want to achieve academic excellence in
English as well as ethic, moral, and desired attitude. The number of the
students in Yupparaj English Program the year of academic 2018 are 330 students (Matthayom 1-6).
YEP was the first bilingual school in Chiang Mai and has became a
leading school in northern Thailand, providing both a strong program of
academic studies and the development of students values and attitudes,
spiritually, socially and intellectually.
In addition to a variety of individual students needs, the
co-curricular elective program offered is continuously supplemented by YEP.
Students choose their electives from the following range of subjects: Music,
Performance Arts, computer Education, personal Development, student Exchange
Program, Information and Communication Technology, Buddhism, Studies and
Occupational Training.
Yupparaj Wittayalai School was chosen to be one the fourteen
schools in the Education Hub Program and has an international program where
students follow the Ministry of Education’s 2554 Standard Curriculum. The
international curriculum covers the curriculum, aims, student capabilities and
desirable characteristic according to a National standard curriculum in order
to the changes in the economy, and society and to move forward academically
Yupparaj IP students will be educated according to a world class standard in
order to a good leaders fulfill the potential, to have a good quality of life
with good moral values, together with a sense of responsibility and desirable
characteristics according to the school vision, so that they develop and
realize as global citizens.
